Why Josew?

One of the cushion I did with the old duvet cover
How did I get here?
Last year, I changed my duvet covers (I do this once a year). Seeing that huge amount of fabric that could be reused, I thought, What if I turn this into something else?
There was just one minor issue: I didn’t own a sewing machine. Oh—and I didn’t even know how to sew!
With little faith in my sewing skills, I didn’t want to invest much. So I hunted for an old, broken sewing machine instead. I didn’t trust my repair skills either, so I ended up buying three machines, hoping at least one could be fixed.
An unexpected find
What I didn’t expect was to fall into the fascinating world of repairs. I learned that old sewing machines are often better than new ones—easier to fix and, with a little TLC, perfect for anyone to use!
So my journey went from reusing old duvet covers to rescuing, repairing, and passing along vintage sewing machines.
Now, my goal is to keep learning repair and restoration techniques to bring these machines (and old fabrics) back to life. Combined with my background as a multimedia designer and prop-maker, I hope to create quirky, exciting projects!

What's next?
On this site, I’ll share my sewing and repair journeys—process photos, helpful documents, and lessons learned. I hope it supports or inspires others, just as I’ve been inspired and helped by so many people along the way.
